Review of First Drop of Crimson

A spin off series from the Cat and Bones novels, this series is not written in first person, which is a huge plus in my opinion. In the story of Spade and Denise, being privy to both POV's let's the reader develop a much more informed and intimate relationship with the characters. The reasons behind Spade's avoidance of anything but the most shallow of relationships with humans becomes reasonable when coupled with Spade's past. It just makes the story a much more rounded and balanced experience. Being well acquainted with both characters from earlier works, I knew I would love this book. Even with prior background, there were still plenty of brow raising surprises. Lots of old and new friends making appearances and as always that offbeat vampire humor. As always, the chemistry and romantic elements smoke. All around fantastic read, now off to Mencheres.
