Guestpost/Giveaway with Katie Reus

11098030

Today I’m fortunate enough to have an extremely gifted author to handle the reins, and not only is she going to drop some knowledge but she’s offering up a copy of her newest book to one lucky person. So show some love for Katie Reus.

Thank you so much Wendy for having me here at Rage, Sex and Teddy Bears (love the title of your blog)!

Since I have a new paranormal romance coming out in two weeks, today I thought I’d talk about what I love most in romance. Heroes. When I read romance, I definitely read for the couple, the journey that gets them to their Happily Ever After, and the hot smexin (yes!), but for all that to happen, I need a hot hero. I have a few deal breakers in romance, and a crappy hero is in my top three. He doesn’t have to be tall, dark and handsome, though that doesn’t hurt. He doesn’t have to have a dangerous edge to him… though again, definitely doesn’t hurt! But if the man is a jerk or if he’s wimpy and whiny, I’m putting the book down (or more than likely deleting it from my Kindle).
Ew

As a rule, I love my men to be alpha. Sometimes alpha males get a bad reputation, but that’s because they’re often mislabeled as assholes. There is a huge difference between alpha and jerk. A man can be demanding, protective and sometimes pig headed, but he can still be respectful of the heroine at the same time. Once the respect goes out the window, so does my interest in the hero. And so does his title of “hero” for that matter.

Rock
In Alpha Instinct, my upcoming release, my hero is Alpha of his own pack and a natural leader so yeah, he’s definitely categorized as an alpha. Even if he does screw up on occasion (who doesn’t?) and drives the heroine just a tad crazy, he’s always got his woman’s back. That’s something I expect in my real life hero so I definitely expect it in the heroes I read about.

So what is Alpha Instinct about?

Alpha Instinct is the first book in a new paranormal series (Moon Shifter). It release February 7, 2012 from NAL/Signet Eclipse. The official blurb is:

Fear has a scent. So does desire…
Ana Cordona has been a strong leader for the lupine shifters who survived after all the males and most of the females in her pack were mysteriously poisoned. As tough as she is, with no Alpha male, the pack is vulnerable to the devious shifter Taggart, who wants to claim both their ranch and Ana as his own. When Connor Armstrong comes back into her life, promising protection, it’s almost enough to make Ana forget how he walked out on her before --- and reluctantly accept his offer to mate.

The minute Connor sees Ana again, it reawakens a raw hunger. He must have her for his bondmate --- his wolf cries out for it. But his human side knows he must proceed with caution because of their complicated past. If he is to truly have her body and soul, he must go beyond his burning desire and win back her heart. Whatever it takes, he is determined not to leave her side again.

But Taggart and his rival pack are not their only enemies. A human element in town is targeting shifters. Their plan not only threatens Ana and Connor’s future, but the lives of the entire pack…

Thanks again for having me here today!

Honesty, loyalty, caring, friendly are a few.

Honesty, all the good qualities any man should have but add a little too macho, unable to hide his feelings and courage to save his woman.

Hmmmmm...let's see lol. I like my heros to be hot, sexy, protective and attentive. Maybe long hair though it's not a great factor. Basically an Alpha male.

Great interview. My hero must be strong, protective, sexy, and can be compassionate when he needs to be.

Hmmm, I believe that mine has to be honest with his faults, I don't mind him being a little hard headed, but I love the protectiveness, attentive, sexy and overall secure with himself with his wants and desires.

Oh, yeah, a wimpy or cheating, or just looser hero will kill a story for me every time ~ and pretty much goes for the heroine, too.
I love a macho, Alpha hero ~ but I can fall for the sexy sensitive protective guy who is more of a beta as long as he's putting the heroine and family first ~~ and I gotz to have my HEA!!

I cannot WAIT for Alpha Instinct!

Thank you so much to Wendy for having me here today! :)

And thank you to everyone who has stopped by so far. These are some great answers!

Loyalty is the highest on my list of hero qualifications. Sometimes I get a bit annoyed with the TOTALLY clueless alpha male. They can't be that stupid ;). Thank you.

I think a hero needs to be strong, compassionate, caring, passionate, must love and protect the ones he loves no matter what the cost and to sacrifice for the ones he loves. Tore923@aol.com

I'd go with a good track record. If he's never successfully saved anyone in the past you might be better off to wait for a better offer.

I like my heroes to be honest, loyal, protective, intelligent, and have a snarky sense of humor.

Good LAWDY that sounds like a great read :D

So my heroes? I like 'em overprotective, almost to the point of ridiculousness (but then again, I like for heroines to frustrate the crap out of said overprotective heroes so hey, it balances).

Thanks for the giveaway!

Qualities for me in a hero. I love a take charge man that is considerate. He will make sure that the job gets done, doing what he has to do. What's that saying "ask forgiveness not permission"!
