Well, jingle my bells and call me Rudolf! What a great holiday surprise this little gem turned out to be. Honestly, I wasn't expecting more than a cookie cutter erotic romance. Just goes to show you that BIG things can show up in unexpected small places and make you question your judgement. This was just a great story. I adored Devin. He knew he wasn't human, but he didn't know exactly what he was. He wasn't exactly fond of his life and didn't want to subject Alyssa to his beastly nature. Alyssa likewise had the hots for her boss Devin, but despaired of him ever noticing her. Boy, does he notice her. I just envied the crap out of Alyssa because IMHO Devin was near perfect, especially in his not quite human form. Let's just say that it wasn't only the Grinch's heart that grew bigger on Christmas. There is also the mate issue, which while it may irritate some readers, is one of my favorite premises. The thought of that one person that is entirely yours genetically, spiritually and physically is awe inspiring.
Alyssa has been the unfortunate victim of a sexual dry spell and when her current boyfriend dumps her because she expects him to put out, well that just ratchets up her fantasy of getting down and dirty with her boss. There are just so many great elements to Christmas Fantasy and Siren Allen has definitely displayed her considerable writing talents to the utmost. The best surprise for me, besides the droolworthy Devin, was the fact that this appears to be the beginning of a series!! *jumping up and down and waving arms* Hello, series slut, here! Siren Allen has herself a fan, dare I say maybe a stalker. The only tee-tiny issue I had was the fact that Alyssa and her sisters had the whole fantasy diary thing going. That was just a little too much family closeness for me. It did tie the whole thing together though and it was just my issue and did not hamper my enjoyment of the book. I would love to go into who I think the next book will be about, but it would give away one of the key points of the story, but needless to say, I can not wait. So, write Siren, write. I am waiting.
