Ryker Bennett has dedicated his life to hunting down—and eliminating—creatures of the dark. But his latest assignment has him questioning everything he’s ever believed in. Jenna Sinclair may be a witch, but she’s also the only woman Ryker has ever loved.

Jenna thought leaving Ryker two years ago would save him from having to choose between their forbidden love and his sworn duty. But when he tracks her down, it’s clear the desire between them burns as hot as ever—and that they’ll have to walk through the flames to be together….

So, when I saw this cover I was just all over the book. It was definitely a case of lust at first sight. Then I read the blurb, and I thought Now, this is unusual. Witch hunts in the modern "civilized" world, hmmmmm." This calls for a more thorough investigation. It turns out the Bennett's are from a long family of hunters, who receive there target's names from the clergy. Once the name is handed to a hunter, there is no trial, no mercy, just death.... no exceptions. Eeeeks! Even Salem had quasi-trials. Now, as improbable as this seems, it is so well written that I totally fell into the story and the journey of Ryker and Jenna. Now I will admit that there were times when both Ryker and Jenna got a verbal smack upside the head from me, but they were on the youngish side. (They still had more sense than most of the older characters) They both grew into laudable characters and leaders by the end of this short story.

Where I hope this book is going is a series centered around the brothers Bennett. I would most definitely jump on said series. A Hunter's Passion was just a taste of what promises to be an action and passion filled world that I want to take part in. In less than 65 pages, Gwen Knight pulls the reader into a world that has put up with too many wrongs done for the "greater" good by unquestioning followers. The reader can feel change emerging as the characters start to question authority and to trust their own instincts. It promises to be absolutely delicious. Brava, Gwen Knight, brava.
