“ATTEN-TION! Stand up straight! Feet on the yellow footprints! No talking! Ears open!"
Welcome to Rage Sex and Teddy Bears. I’m Corporal Nicholas Santiago.” *paces back and forth*
“I’m taking over the blog today.” *flashes a grin*
“Don’t know me? Well, you’re in for a treat.” *waggles eyes brow* “You can call me Saint.”
A long drawn out sigh was heard.
“What?” Saint strides over to the young lady lounging on the chaise. “They are in for a treat.”
“You are the most egotistical man I’ve ever met.” She giggled.
“But you love me just the same.” Saint grabbed her up and buried his nose in her neck. She wrapped her arms around him, letting him drag her up against him. He pulled her tight, hands curving around her bottom, fitting her against him. “Mmm. You feel good.”
“You’re still a pig.” She laughed as she said it. “How about introducing me? Or do I have to do it myself?”
Saint gave her a loud smack on her lips and laughed, loosening his arms.
“I suppose I can. ATTEN-TION!”
“Would you quit that?” She shook her head with a grin.
“What?” *raising his brow*
“Jeez, enough already! YOU are the only marine here.”
“Fine.” *grumbles* “Well, I’m Saint and this here is the love of my life.” He went silent, grinning.
She looks at him, narrowing her eyes. “Is that it?”
Saint looks innocent. “Is that what?”
“My introduction.” *tapping her foot*
“I introduced you as the love of my life.” He gave her a quick kiss on her nose. “What else is there?”
She glared at him. “You are going to be so sorry.”
He laughed. “Okay, okay. Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to my angel, Petty Officer Angelina Jones.”
*smiling at Angelina* “Is that better?”
“Yes.” Angelina. “Now why don’t you tell everyone about our story?”
Saint sat on the chaise, dragging Angelina to his lap. “Yes, ma’am.” He sat back. “Angel and I met on deployment. You know women are now being sent into combat. Angel here is a Navy Corpsman. She fixed up our cuts and bruises.” He wrapped his arms around her tighter. “Angel was one of the first women sent to our FOB.”
“That’s Forward Operating Base, for those of you that don’t know.” Angel interjected.
“Well, hot stuff here, caught my notice. What man wouldn’t love a curvy blonde angel in Navy camo?
Ouch! Stop that.” Angel laughed, and quit poking him. “I was a good boy, and didn’t make any moves.”
“You had just broken up with your girl. Don’t try to make it seem like you’re an angel.”
Saint laughed. “No, you’re the angel.” He sobered. “I’m a marine. Semper fidelis, always faithful. Yes, I was hurt, but I still thought you were hot. There was no fraternization allowed, and I was scared. There I said it. I didn’t want to be hurt again.”
“Ah, Nick.” Angel turned and hugged him. “I wouldn’t hurt you.”
“So I found out. Anyhow, I didn’t realize how deep my feelings ran until I saw that grenade coming. Damn! I still have nightmares. In that instance I realized that I could lose you without ever having you.”
“But you didn’t. You saved my life.”
“I had no choice. I couldn’t let you die.”
“And you didn’t.”
“But the cost to you, Angel. I wish I had done better.”
Angel guided his face to hers, and kissed him, snuggling into his arms. “You did fine.”
“Well, we were both injured in the grenade blast. Angel has had a ton of rehab, learning to use her prosthetic. Me,” he sighed, “I’ve healed, but I had to start seeing the shrink. I saw too much crap over there. Even now, I still have nightmares. But, Angel, here, saved me.”
“And you saved me. It’s all worked out in the end.”
They smiled at each other, their happiness obvious.
“Yes, Angel, it all worked out in the end.” Saint looked up. “So, check out our story. And for god’s sake, give us a little privacy!”
Angel laughed as Saint pulled her tight and leaned his head down, slanting his lips across hers.
Angel’s life changed the minute Saint saved her from a grenade. Now Saint has a second chance to prove he’s the man for her.
Corporal Nicholas 'Saint' Santiago needs to go home to reclaim the man he used to be. To be the man he was before Operation Enduring Freedom slowly hardened his heart. He needs to reconnect to the values and the reasons he is doing what he does. Saint also needs to try to forget the courageous woman he knows was meant to be his.
Petty Officer Angelina Jones' life changed the moment Saint saved her life. She survived the blast but
now has to deal with the fact that she will never be whole. Knowing Saint received a 'Dear John' letter, Angelina has no intention of being his rebound romance. She needs to be loved for herself. She needs to forget about the one man she knows was meant to be hers.
They each try to find someone to help them forget. But what does fate have planned for them?
Nick could hear her suck in a breath, in surprise or appreciation? Nick hoped to find out. He moved closer and with the sun no longer in his eyes, surprise slammed him upside the head. Nick grinned and stepped forward, trapping her against the railing. Her face had lit up, her smile diamond bright. His soul burst with happiness, responding to the joy in her face.
“Hello, beautiful.” Nick leaned down, pulling her curves against him and ravaged her mouth, not about to give her a chance to reject him. He felt her breath catch and then her arms came around his neck. He heard her glass hit the balcony floor. Nick shifted, sliding his lips along her neck. “I never dreamed it would be you.”
Nick ran his hands down her back. The thin silk dress she wore left little hidden from his hands. Nick smoothed his hands across her ass and pulled her up and fitted her heat against his growing erection.
Nick couldn’t feel any panty lines. With her arms around his neck, holding tight as he kissed her, Nick grabbed her thighs and wrapped them around his hips.
He slipped his hands under the short skirt of her dress, caressing the globes of her ass. He slid his hands inwards, finding as he hoped, no panties. Running his fingers lightly against her silkiness, and dipping a finger inside to tease her, Nick could feel her wetness coat his finger as he slid into her warmth. Angelina gasped and threw back her head.
Nick quickly took advantage, pressing his hand deeper as he raised her up, her ass on his forearm.
Angelina squirmed, rubbing against him. Nick bent and sucked a nipple into his mouth, teasing it through the silk. He slid a finger in and out of her heat, lightly rubbing her clit with his thumb. Angelina moaned and tightened around his finger. Pressing her close against him, Nick increased his thrusts. Nick bit her nipple and was rewarded with a cry as Angelina clamped down, drenching his hand as she came apart in his arms.
She placed her head against his shoulder, shivers running through her while her arms and legs tightened around him. Nick pulled his hand free from her warmth and licked his fingers clean, making smacking noises as he did.
“Pig.” It was so low Nick barely heard the comment. Nick chuckled as Angelina giggled in his arms.
“Did you want another glass of champagne?” Angelina shook her head and squirmed against him. Nick squeezed her to him, enjoying the feel of her, despite the tightness in his groin. “Are you ready for dinner? Or shall we just head straight to dessert?”
Angelina raised her head to look at him, her eyes heavy lidded. Nick smiled in satisfaction. He may not have gotten his rocks off yet, but Angelina was satisfied and that alone made his heart sing.
Marine! Just the word conjures up images of strong jaws, cut arms, ripped abs and steely eyes. Hero! In my mind, that word always follows Marine. Corporal Nicholas (Saint) Santiago is both, in form and figure. How dare some bimbo not appreciate what she had, and then the tacky, tacky, obviously has no home training, "Dear John" letter. Beverly Ovalle has created a character that made me want to take up arms and find the heartless harlot who dared to dump one of "the few and the proud". In this short but beautifully crafted story we get to witness the rebuilding of Saint and his true love Angelina.
Angelina (Doc) is every bit the hero that Saint is, saving lives and healing hearts. She knows Saint's story, so I completely understand her reticence. She has her own rebuilding to do and, bless her heart, she is one tough cookie. These two heroes have more than earned their happiness, and I was honored to be able to be a voyeur on the sidelines. Voyeur is an appropriate word, the images that Beverly Ovalle paints in her story are vivid and scorching. With a nod to the healing properties of strong family units, and the vagaries of fate assisted by internet dating, there are a lot of bases covered in this book. Fun, hot, emotional and exhausting, A Saint's Salvation will win your heart and may give you the urge to enlist, or at least donate to the USO! Oorah and job well done!
