Caleb is dark, hot, and commanding in human form. As a dragon, he’s a force to be reckoned with. When he witnesses the slave Lileta being beaten by his Overlord Odage, he nearly comes unglued. Without understanding why, he asks to take the slave as his own, but soon realizes his longing is more than an attraction to a beautiful woman. In a sick twist of fate, the gods have given him a demon as his mate—one he can never touch unless he wishes his own death. His only choice is to grant her freedom.
Lileta wanted to kill Caleb, but when she is freed by this tempting male, her anger turns to a desire that can only prove fatal. Even if she could claim him as her own, her dark past makes her unworthy of his love.
When their paths continue to intertwine, spiraling them to the brink of passion, can they resist the yearnings burning within them, or will they submit to their fatal desire?
Ok, so I freely admit to being a series slut, but I am NOT an indiscriminate slut. I need a good, fast paced, well thought out story, LIKABLE characters, sexy, alpha heroes, and most importantly...... HEROINES WHO ARE NOT IDIOTS! Valerie Twombly gets this. Let me reiterate -- Valerie Twombly writes OUTSTANDING heroines! I am so easy when it comes to heroes. Pretty, witty, a wee bit damaged and no serious kink. Heroines are a whole different animal, you better be on your "A" game for me to give a five to a heroine. I have ZERO tolerance for stupid, or timid heroines. Yes, it is a double standard and sexist and anything else you want to throw. So what! My blog, my opinion, my rules!
Lileta RULES! Yes, I am using lots of caps and exclamation points. See above. She endured HELL, has even more horrendous crap thrown her way, and still saves the day. Wooo hoooo! Girl demon power!!
Now, while Heroines may be pivotal to my rating of a book, the most enjoyable part of course is the hero. Caleb, I knew from the first book that Caleb was one to watch. Even though he did drag his feet a tad, as far as joining the good fight, I just KNEW he was a hero of worth. He's a dragon, so he is overbearing, arrogant and HUGE! Yay! He needs somebody as tough as Lileta or he would just run right over her.
This series is addictive! I swear, I just discovered it, and already I'm obsessed. Zarek's (King of the Guardians) story is blown wide open in this book, and I truly hurt for him. There are dragons, vampires, Egyptian gods, and demons. Pick your poison. It's a PNR smorgasbord. I am a Guardian groupie and proud of it!! Love this series, Read it! Read it! READ IT!! Job supremely well done, bravissima!

LOL I agree with you about the weak females, it gets irritating after a while. I just don't understand how females could be scared of everything and helpless - I'm very independent so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm a type of girl when I see a bug I do not scream - No I smash it and feel pleasure that it is dead. LOL
Glad this book didn't have them. I love the cover and the blurb. After reading your review now I want to read this series. I love dragons and all things fantasy and paranormal.
Can you share your flashy dragon with me? LOL. EMAIL ME LOVE, LOL
Great review!
LOL you totally have me with the heroines who aren't idiots. Lordy some heroines make it a real rough row reading their stories. How the heroes deal with them...beyond me! I'll have to check these out!
I added this one to my wishlist. I cannot stand weak, whiney heroines either. Glad this one was to your liking :D
Thanks for the wonderful review. I'm so happy you liked Lileta, she was awesome to write. :-)
