One night can change everything…

The crew at Boston’s Brazen Head Pub hasn’t been very lucky in love. Can a mysterious visitor inspire them to look past old hurts and misconceptions and give romance a chance? One Lucky Night is a collection of five sexy interwoven novelettes by Aria Kane, Grace Teague, Ana Blaze, Constance Phillips, and Melinda Dozier.

Lucky Break teaser 2

Lucky Break by Aria Kane

Four years ago, chef Derek Chase walked out of Andrea Rivera’s life after a tragedy neither of them were prepared to deal with. When she’s called to the Brazen Head to repair a dishwasher, old sparks ignite buried feelings.

Lucky Star by Grace Teague    Lucky Star Teaser 5

When her life is threatened by a mugger, Charlotte Price realizes she's in love with her best friend, Tommy Leung. The Brazen Head seems like the perfect neutral place to confess her feelings, but nothing goes according to plan.

A New Tune by Ana Blaze

When it comes to dating, Holly Hall has one unbreakable rule: no musicians. Not even gorgeous ones. Especially not gorgeous ones. Dating them only leads to heartbreak. So why did she let singer-songwriter Cian O’Neill kiss her? And why is she thinking about doing it again?

Lexi's Chance Teaser 5
Lexi’s Chance by Constance Phillips

As a bartender, Sean Whelan meets all kinds of women every night, but none turn his head the way that Lexi has. She’s been playing cat and mouse with him for weeks. Tonight, Sean’s determined to get Lexi to quit teasing and take a real chance on him.

Drink or Dare teaser 1

Lucky Break - This story combined two of my favorite tropes, romantic interest in a best friend's sibling and a reunion. Now I'm of a mind that when one partner leaves and breaks the heart of the other, the offender must suffer trials that make Hell look like Club Med. Well, that's hard to do in a novella. And, most characters in romance literature (except for the villains) are much nicer and more forgiving than myself. Thus the title, it was indeed a Lucky Break for Derek, in more ways than one. Andy was one of the nice ones. She listened, then went with her heart. It was a fun, well written story.

Lucky Star - To me this was the most serious addition to the anthology. It also had a sweeter feel to it, IMHO. It had a distinctly New Adult taste, but was still a worthy contribution, and I do adore a friends to lovers tale.

A New Tune - I know this may cause some discord, but I love, love, loved Holly. I was so glad to see her stick to her guns for so much of the story. Musicians, no matter how sexy, are a gamble. I require proof of intent. So did Holly! And groupies, hmmmmm, I would have had an assault charge. Luckily, Holly listened to her rational self and eventually to Cian. I love that name and it just fit his sexy persona. This was an awesome read.

Lexi's Chance - Yay! I thought this was so great. I mean who can blame Lexi for not taking Sean seriously. Bartenders are almost as big a gamble as musicians. Their livelihood depends on how well they flirt. I truly enjoyed their interplay and their realization that what they felt for each other was mutual and real. I smiled, chuckled and went awwwww.

Drink or Dare - What can I say? A man in a kilt, an IRISHMAN in a kilt! Really, that should be enough. I would buy every book with that in the blurb. Even though it is the result of a lost wager, Killian rocks the tartan. I also love competitiveness amongst couples, in moderation of course. I think it adds a bit of spice and who wants to be saddled with a sore loser or overly obnoxious winner. This was a gift of an ending to the anthology, like a cherry on an already decadent sundae. It left a pleasing taste and delightful memory and I couldn't have been more satisfied.

Conclusion - This was an outstanding example of what an anthology should be. Differing styles, differing POV's, differing tones, but all tied together with an entertaining bow. I absolutely loved the connectivity of the novellas, it reminded me of an updated younger Cheers. I even started picking out who would be who's kid. Like, of course I picked Killian as Sam's offspring, and Holly was Dianne's niece. Of course I used my own parameters but it was fun. Annnnnd that proves my point! It was fun, even when it had it's sad or serious moments, it merely highlighted the brightness of the books. I am so glad I agreed to take a chance on this book. It paid off BIG TIME. Superior job ladies, applause and brava.

Oh this looks delicious - I love the post and boy those pictures have me wanting to lick the screne - LOL Your review is awesome.

Your comment on Lucky Break - "the offender must suffer trials that make Hell look like Club Med." - LOL dont you just love reading about sweet revenge?

In Lucky Star - I'd have to say I match your description very well as my hubby and I are best friends and are now married.

In A New Tune - that book sounds intense and like you I think Musicians are a risky challenge in keeping because of the temptations all around them but the drama is exciting to read about.

In Lexi's Chance - sounds like it is full of drama - your right, bartenders are just as worse as musicians - LOL

Now Drink or Dare sounds like the perfect tease - can a girl do both drink and dare? LOL

They all sounds like fun reads.
