Connor Buchanan had reached the ripe old age of 499 years. The age when your typical vampire (try typing that without laughing) has a midlife crisis. Connor thought this was all a load of bunk, although he was getting a wee bit envious of  his happily paired off friends, not that he would ever admit to it. When Connor is sent to South Dakota in search of Casimir, the leader of the Malcontents, he makes a divine discovery.  Marielle was never one to follow orders, and when her superiors finally had enough, she was stripped of her wings and cast out of heaven. Connor is unsure of what type of being he has found when he brings her back to Romatech, but he knows he has no choice.

Vampire Mine doesn’t stray from the formula that has made Kerrelyn Spark’s Love at Stake series so popular. Light, fun, quick and sexy, this is a great summer read that is neither to dark or too light.  Connor is one of the braw Buchanan vamps that have worked security for Romatech for ages. A recurring character from the first of the series, readers have gotten to know the solemn, solitary Connor quite well. Carrying a mountain of guilt from his days as a newbie vamp, Connor has dedicated his undead life to not repeating past mistakes. Marielle offers divine forgiveness, if Connor will accept it, but that’s all she can offer because she is determined to return to the choir of angels. Both fighting the sexual pull leads to hilarious misunderstandings and pink toenails for Connor.

There are some more somber moments, especially with the battle scenes and the victims of the Malcontents escalating rampages. Ever present vamp reporter Corky Courrant has decided to tag along with Casimir and broadcast live to all the viewers of DVN (Digital Vampire Network). Well that can’t lead to anything good, but it does make for some fun reading. Fans of this series will not want to miss this book because there are some very major plot developments. If you’re new to this series, now would be a great time to jump on the bandwagon.
